Getting Started with AI Prompt Templates on Banana Art Lab
A template is a ready-made prompt for a specific kind of image, together with an example of the result. Instead of working out the wording yourself, you pick a template, add your own photo or subject, and generate. This guide explains how templates work, what is in the library, and how to adapt a template to your own idea.
How a template works
Each template on the templates page has a preview image, a short description and a prompt that has already been tested. When you click Use Template, the editor opens with that prompt filled in. From there you can:
- Upload a reference image, if the template edits a photo (for example a portrait, a product or a street scene).
- Adjust the prompt: swap the subject, colors or setting for your own.
- Choose a model and resolution, then generate.
The template only fills in the starting point. Everything stays editable, and nothing is generated until you press Generate.
What is in the library
The library has more than 30 templates across categories such as design, photography, characters, enhancement, 3D, stickers and miniatures. A few popular starting points:
Turn people into collectibles
- LEGO Minifigure Diorama: rebuild a person or scene as a brick-built minifigure scene.
- Q-Version Figurine Blind Box Design: a chibi figurine with blind-box packaging.
- Handcrafted Yarn Doll Warm Photo: a crocheted doll version of your subject.
- Gundam Model Custom Packaging: a model kit box designed around your character.
Stickers and merchandise
- Chibi Sticker Collection for a set of cute stickers, and Social Media Chibi Character for a 3D chibi of you sitting on an Instagram frame.
- Emoji Expression Grid for a full sheet of expressions of one character.
- Enamel Pin Design and Minimalist Flat Stickers for merchandise mockups.
Photo edits
- Snow Scene Weather Effect, Aerial View Conversion and Smart Object Removal change an existing photo while keeping its content.
- Smart Colorization and Photo Enhancement restore and improve old or low-quality pictures.
- Formal ID Photo Generation and Nine-Grid Hairstyle Designer work from a portrait.
Creative scenes
- 3D Polaroid Breakthrough, where the subject steps out of a Polaroid frame.
- City Landmark Miniature Model, Disney Dream Background and Surreal Film Photography for stylized scenes.
Choosing a model for a template
Templates work with any model, but the choice changes the cost and the result:
- For a quick first try, use Nanobanana (10 credits). Your 10 free sign-up credits cover one image.
- For photo edits that must keep faces and details, use Nanobanana 2, Nanobanana Pro or GPT Image 2.
- For templates with text in the image, such as packaging or business cards, Nanobanana Pro gives the most readable lettering.
The credits guide lists what every model costs.
Make a template your own
The prompt in a template is a recipe, not a rule. Some easy changes:
- Replace the subject: "a corgi" instead of the person in the example.
- Change the palette: add "pastel colors" or "black and gold".
- Change the setting: move a miniature scene from a desk to a beach.
- Combine ideas: use the LEGO diorama prompt with your own product photo.
When you find a version you like, keep that prompt, since it becomes your own template for the next project. For more on wording, see the prompt writing guide.
Tips for better results
- Use a clear, well-lit reference photo; the model can only keep details it can see.
- Keep the aspect ratio of the template preview if you want a similar composition.
- If the first result is close, edit it instead of starting over: upload it as the new reference and describe only the change.
Browse all templates on the templates page and try one with your free credits.
